FINER THINGS OF JAIPUR

DINNER WITH THE KAPURS

You are invited to an evening filled with stories of food, of the origins of local flavours, the significance of this food to various parts of a city’s life and the anecdotes and memories it invariably punctuates. Indulge in these fulfilling conversations over luxurious food and drink at a prominent home in Jaipur.

Your host, Mita Kapur, is a well-known name in India’s literary landscape. She is the founder of Siyahi, a literary agency that represents some of India’s best-known authors and also produces literary festivals in India and abroad. Mita herself is an author; her first book, The F-Word - is a delightful, food-centric memoir, travelogue and cookbook; and her latest, Chillies and Porridge, is an anthology of personal essays on food by some of India’s best writers.

As a host, you couldn’t possibly find a more suited one. Mita is the force behind Masala Chowk - a popular food court that gives Jaipur’s unsung street food a platform to reconnect with the modern urban population. She has helped design the menu at Alila Fort Bishangarh - Time Magazine’s “World’s 100 Greatest Places of 2018”, a property her family co-owns. Mita is now focussing all her culinary energies on planning and conceptualising her upcoming restaurant.
