Episode 23: Dr Richa Jain

Dr. Richa Jain and Group performed this Sunday morning at Mandir Shri Brij Nidhi Ji. A ganda bandh disciple of Padma Bhushan Vidushi Dr. Shanno Khurana, Dr. Jain is a Hindustani classical vocalist of Rampur Gharana. She is an avid performer at several major festivals across the country and had been awarded the Sanskrit Samaradhak Samman by the Delhi Sanskrit Academy in 2012. She was accompanied by Shri Ramesh Mewal on harmonium and Shri Abhijit Ji on tabla.

This euphonious episode began with the bhajan Tohri Chhavi Dekhi based on the morning raga Ahiritori. It was followed by the soothing bhajan Kaahe Na Prabhu More Aaye,  in raga Bihaag, composed by the vocalist herself. This auspicious morning ended with a melodious composition by Dr. Shanno Khurana,  Sab Koi Jaane, Mein Nahi Jaanu in raga Bhairavi. The audience was enraptured by the heartfelt renditions of the artists, amidst the breathtaking architecture of the temple. The performers were honoured with mementos by Shaakir Ali of the Rajasthan Forum.
